now you just need to KROP-keep rushing our pledges(new members). that is a sign that we kept up in my sorority house when i was in school, to remind us that we need to make a connection with the new girls and continue to treat them as the special people they are. set your goal for 36 new initiates, so that noone drops before initiation. good luck!!!

Great advice.
Just think, with COB next fall, Silverpearls, you may be at chapter total by next year's formal recruitment. Excellent!

Just when you though the story was over...
One of our COB girls never responded, so we assumed she was declining her Bid. Well, we called her today to make sure - and it turns out she never got the message! She accepted very enthusiastically and we have a final pledge class total of 37 new Venuses! Just 3 below quota!
Life is full of great surprises

With the three day weekend people may be harder to reach, so if I may suggest, give those who didn't respond one last jingle (text, email, what have you) Wednesday when they are likely back on campus and fully functioning.

True...maybe the same slacker sister was assigned to call all three haha! Anyways, congratulations.
Side note, I am done with recruitment as an undergraduate now (mix of sadness and relief) but this was the BEST recruitment thread. Next year people have to do this more often...giving star PNMs code names and giving a behind the scenes look (minus membership selection details obviously!). It was SO fun to read and I think it gives PNMs an idea of all the hard work we put into making decisions...and also how excited we are to really have new sisters on bid day! Now they can see that it's not "Oh, I guess we got Amy and Becky and some chick named Cindy", it's much more "We've been obsessing over Amy and Becky and Cindy all week and are so excited to have them!"
OK, whatever, I'm a nerd, but I am so sad this thread is done but yet so happy for your chapter.

Congratulations to your chapter and the 37 new Venuses! What a great story...so inspiring!
(And that Shelly is a kook and has some nerve trying to COB after her shenanigans...eek!)

Last night was Formal Pledging, which went really well! We pinned the rest of our 37-girl pledge class and had a short Bid Day celebration. Unfortunately most of the sisters and NMs have their first round of midterms this week so the night had to be cut short so that everyone could go study.
One of my sisters and I were in charge of decorating the doors of the new members, which is a fun tradition at our school. Each sorority makes a big sign in the shape of one of their symbols with "XYZ Welcomes Lily" (or whoever) and posts it on their dorm room door, along with balloons and streamers. I think all of our sisters remember how special it made them feel, so we try to go all out with it! While we were out decorating we got another call from our Recruitment chair... and a 38th girl accepted her bid at the last minute! Technically it was past the deadline, but we're happy to have her! Though we don't know the particulars, we're pretty sure she initially declined her COB bid, but changed her mind since one of our current New Members is her roommate and she saw all the fun she was having with her new sisters
So, I promise (really this time!) that 38 is the total! I think the reason we had late acceptances/confusion is that our Recruitment chair for COB is brand new and is still working out the details of her position. We're ecstatic about having so many - the same number as Minerva!! Now the project is retaining them all through initiation, or as someone on this thread said - KROP (Keep Rushing Our Pledges). All but our very-late-last-night bid acceptance have their Big Sisters and the matches seem to be really strong. So far they all seem happy and involved! There are a bunch of activities planned for the next few weeks including Karaoke, New Member dinner at a nice restaraunt nearby and a road trip to a nearby city.
Thanks again to everyone who's PMed me to say congratulations! A lot of you have been asking who Minerva is, but I'd prefer not to share in light of Panhellenic spirit and the fact that I was pretty frustrated with them in some of my posts. I also don't want to reveal my campus, though a few of you have already guessed! Like I said before, I'm happy to share my affiliation.
I'll update again in a while to let you all know how the New Members are doing!

That's fantastic news! Congrats yet again and I'm happy to see that you & your sisters are making every effort to make your new members feel welcome and wanted. It's crucial to give them the best new member period ever so that your sisterhood remains strong and they have nothing but great memories of it.
