I have no idea now but I find this very interesting Thinking back it might have been briefly mentioned in history class but I don't really remember it.

That was a tricky one lol. One of my sisters is just starting her student teaching in integrated social studies (grades 7-12) so I'll have to ask her if she knows the answer

I think it IS Peyton Randolph. Wasn't the President of the Continental Congress considered the President of the United States until the first election was held?

yes, exactly, but the position was vastly different, closer to the position that the Vice President is today... IT could also be said the first president is John Hancock because America he was the president of the c. congress when we declared independence, and thus became the first president of the "country," while others believe it to be Hanson because he was the first to be elected under the Articles of Confederation...
