Round 3 - Skit Night!

After anxiously tossing and turning the night before, it was finally time for skit night! My friends and I dressed in our "church attire", and walked to the student center to await our party invites. I checked in with my Rho Chi and she said I was going to all three parties! I was so happy

Coke was first tonight. Their theme was "The Fabulous Coke Awards". Their skit was like the Oscars but for the sorority: Best sisterhood award, diversity award, most talented sisters award, etc, and of course they beat out "beta beta beta" and "alpha alpha" for the awards every time. The decorations were like a city skyline, very pretty! I was really impressed by the songs they picked to change lyrics to fit Coke: not only were they really clever, but the girls singing were very talented! I was also very happy because I sat at the table front and center of the room, and the girls who I chatted with were all seniors! My mom told me later that night that these could both be very good signs that they liked me! I felt like the conversation just flowed. I couldn't eat their treat tonight because of my food allergies, and that was the only awkard part of the conversation because the girl rushing me didn't know what was in the treat. I left the party with a very positive opinion of Coke!

Sprite was my second skit tonight. We were brought in to an extremely perky cheer and sat at our tables; I was seated in the middle of the room. Their theme was "Sprite Idol", like American Idol. They had the three judges, and different sisters auditioned, singing songs with words changed to fit. I felt like a lot of the lines were inside jokes because I just wasn't understanding a lot of it. Also, the judges were very mean to one girl. I know that's what American Idol is like, but it just didn't sit well with me. The girls in the skit had funny names (Which they later explained were the names of their founders, but I still didn't get it). Overall their songs were great but it just didn't go over very well. Decor was very sparse. During the rest of the round, I was unconsciously doing some self-sabotage. My last conversation of the night found me talking to the President. She was talking about how she loved her sisters, and I asked a question that I later regret. My boyfriend's sister was a Sprite back at home, and she had to drop because she couldn't afford it. I asked the President how sisters could make someone leave the sorority because she couldn't pay anymore. The response I got was a very composed and classy one about scholarships being available and how the dues here were less because there are no houses, so sisters being unable to afford rarely happens. I immediately felt terrible for being so rude, but the party was over.

I soon shook off that feeling, because PEPSI was last! Yay PEPSI! I was so excited because I just knew that Pepsi was for me. I walked in and guess who picked me off the door? The girl who dropped me off yesterday! We chatted away and soon it was Skit time. Their theme was "School of Pepsi" aka School of Rock. I was happy to see that the President, my Orientation leader, was the star of the skit. She played a misfit girl who was trying to figure out how to fit in. The rest of it is kind of a blur, but it ended in her pulling off her baggy hoodie and revealing her Pepsi letters underneath! The final line was "I realize now that Pepsi isn't what I've become, but who I've always been!". I thought their skit was sooooo awesome. I talked to so many Pepsi girls that night! They kept coming up, saying hi and staying for a few minutes - I swear I met 15 girls that night. When it was time to go, I stood up and the girl walked me to the door. She gave me a hug and said, "Daisy, I will totally see you tomorrow!" I was beaming from ear to ear.

Needless to say, that night I ranked without thinking.
1. Pepsi
1. Coke
2. Sprite

When I got back to the dorm, all the other girls said they thought either Pepsi or Coke was their favorite. Pref was tomorrow and I was so excited to go to Pepsi!

HATE that. I really got burned by it during my own recruitment. Don't listen to her!

OMG, three years after undergrad, this is one of the recruitment rules I will NEVER forget because it was stressed so much every year.

There were quite a few other girls I knew who had been hurt because a chapter said that, yet ended up cutting them the next day.
