Oh, I never expected them to say, "we're trying to take the stigma out of spring recruitment." I just think that the January admit stuff is a particularly silly way to couch the discussion.
And I'm not sure that a separate spring quota recruitment is going to really help the smaller groups that much. What PNM will COB a smaller group if the big groups are wide open with a separate spring recruitment quota? What freshman will take a bid to a "lesser" group in the fall if all groups are open in the spring? There are separate issues no matter how you do it, assuming that this form of spring recruitment continues.
But I'm pretty happy that UGA is trying something new, and I hope that the results are great. I seriously doubt it's going to do any harm to the smaller groups this spring.
