Scott and Lil need to go....I thought Lil was a cheap imitation of Tina Turner.... Don't even try walking like Tina....
I love tivo....and the fact that I can watch yummy Matt again and again!!!
He was my favorite tonight!!! I also love "Part Time Lovers" by Stevie Wonder!!
Allison was amazing!
Danny was okay as was Adam....
One last thought....what was up with the time problem? They ended the show at 9:07? WTF!?!!!? Why they messing with my DVR!!!

My DVR didn't record Adam's performance, so I missed out. I wonder how much that will affect his votes. It doesn't take a genuis to figure out what number contestant he is and still vote even if you missed his performance, but some people aren't too bright.
I thought Allison was great and Anoop redeemed himself. I'm a Kris Allen fan but his song choice was awful in my opinion (All She Wants to do is Dance).
I think the bottom three tonight will be Matt, Kris, and Scott.

WVU - you can see the performance on youtube. It is pretty amazing. I missed it last night too, guess I'll have to set the DVR to tape Fringe so it doesn't cut out again!
I checked on Dial Idol and Adam was still the #1 vote getter, so it doesn't seem like it's affecting him, BUT, if it had been Kris or Allison and they had been cut off before performing, I would call major FOUL if they were the lowest vote getter.
With more and more people DVRing shows, the networks need to be mindful of timing.
Also, could Paula just SHUT UP! Her rambling incoherent commentaries are really bugging me.

I just don't understand why the producers/directors of this show cannot figure out how to signal to these judges that they are going on too long with critiques. Adding the 4th judge has thrown a curveball in the show, and it's as if the show can't figure out what to do!
Several times in the last few weeks the last two contestants have had their critiques(read: facetime, fan time) cut short because someone, somewhere cannot get this show under control. It usually can be blamed on the Paula/Simon dynamic but no so much last night.
It is really frustrating as a fan - especially those who are tivo-ing the show, etc.
getting off my soapbox now...

The networks don't want people DVRing - DVRers don't watch commercials, which is what pays for the shows. I believe they're setting shows to go over intentionally.

Someone on the radio said they're also trying to cut into a rival show on another network. Not sure how accurate that is but I thought it was kind of amusing

I thought about this, and that's why I've been intentionally setting my DVR to record at least 5 minutes extra. BF who used to work in master controls says that shows usually cannot go more than 5 minutes over because it effs up paid commercial space.

I am not sure I believe the DVR conspiracy theory. IMO, dvr allows people to tune into more than one show - isn't viewership what they are after? And, chances are, I might end up watching a commercial or two (though, highly doubt it!). Besides, with the blatant product placements, we are not being deprived from influence. (off topic, but did anyone see the blatant State Farm promo in last week's Jon and Kate episode? It was so obvious, I laughed).

The progressive (sarcasm) folks at Nielson have not yet figured out how to figure in DVR viewers. DVR views are not counted. The networks want you to watch the show live, because it's the only way they can sell advertisers on viewers. People DVR for two reasons: because they're not home/busy and so can't watch, or they prefer to watch another show at the same time. The latter is not a good way to win over advertisers either, and so the networks don't really have an incentive to know/care how many people are DVRing their shows. One of the major benefits of DVR is that you don't have to watch commercials; I have a DVR and I always FF through the ads. The networks started beginning and ending shows late so they could basically punish people for "cheating" and con them into tuning in live. Notice that this is an issue with a number of shows now...not just shows like AI. My evening news is scheduled to go until 11:35 every night.
Take AI for example. If the network wanted it to end on time, it's easily accomplished through editing. They didn't edit it to fit the allotted time, fourth judge or not. They end it at different times to keep you guessing...so you can't set your DVR for the same time every week.

I think it was time for Scott to go. He's not exactly up to par with the other singers.
I listened to his performance last night with my eyes closed, and he sounded really good until he tried to hit this one power note, then he kinda went all screechy.
I am disappointed in what some people think of as "jokes"
One guy in a MySpace group I'm in said "Ha, Scott sure didn't see that one coming"
Which I thought was ignorant and not at all humorous

I was actually shocked that it wasn't Lil who went home (although I think the judges would have used their "save.") I'm not a fan of hers, I haven't seen anything remotely original about what she's been doing-- and her enunciation needs a lot of work.

Very glad it was Scott who went home and not Anoop. I was really surprised only 30,000 votes separated the two. I just didn't see how Scott could fit into the American Idol persona. He could probably put out a Billy Joel-like album, but that's it. I don't see people lining up to get tickets to his concerts or him appealing to a mass audience.
I was going to be really disappointed if Lil Rounds was cut and the judges saved her. She was good in earlier rounds but has been continuously disappointing each week.
