It's fine to pull at the heartstrings a little, but please...don't make things too emotional! PNMs are emotional messes already by that point in the week. A song and a (short!) speech is fine, but please don't overdo it. Also, don't put inside jokes into the speeches in your ceremony...the PNMs will be turned off.
Also, if you serve food, serve nothing ingredients that people are commonly allergic too (nuts, seafood, ect). I'm allergic to seafood, and at the first pref I went to, I couldn't eat some of their pretty little quiche type things because it contained shellfish (glad I asked!).
