The best thing for you to do is talk to girls in your chapter about what they've liked/disliked about past pref parties.

I'd also suggest talking to your newest girls (the girls you got during formal recruitment 2008). They can tell you what parts of the pref ceremony were meaningful to them.

Also, I find that alot of times, new officers/party chairs/etc. want to change things around and add new stuff to parties all the time. That's cool, but remember that just because you've done the same poem/ceremony/whatever FOREVER doesn't mean you have to change it. If it has been something that PNMs remember and girls say that it means alot to them, then consider keeping it.

100% agree. I think the majority of NPCs have a ceremony or two that they want you to do anyways, so changing it too much way go against your recruitment advisor's wishes.

I think that the ceremony is only as good as the conversation preceding it. I think many people in retrospect will say that the ceremonies they saw at the time were kind of hokey, but at the moment they were so caught up in the beauty of the sisterhood in the room that they bawled anyways and thought the ceremony was lovely. Make sure that the conversation is strong and the right connections are being made. If that is the case, a well rehearsed hokey-pokey could win PNMs over.
