UPDATE: It went fine, but the woman talked FOREVER.

She got us all to make follow-up appointments by promising $10 in products (and the thing I wanted was $10

) and we would get free stuff if we talked our friends into making appointments with her. Yeah, she worked really hard to get us to come in under her and all I could think about was this thread.
ANSWER TO THE MYSTERY QUESTION: The products aren't sold in stores because Mary Kay wanted women to feel a sense of relationship and rapport when learning about the products and how to apply them--which you would not get at a mall counter. Apparently, selling them in regular stores wasn't even an option.
Oh and I did get that red lipstick from Rite Aid. CG Outlast Double Lipshine ROCKS.
