I know I've talked about my dislike of hippies in the random thread or "what do you feel like saying" thread, but I decided it needs its own thread.
I hate hippies!!!
They smell, they don't shave their legs or armpits (girls), they don't wear shoes, and they hate me for being a conformist. I realize I go to UC Santa Cruz, so of course there are freaking hippies here, but COME ON! I hate being considered evil because I'm not a weirdo.
There was a quote in the student-run paper today that set me off. Santa Cruz is known for its lack of school spirit; we have never had a football team, and other athletic programs are getting cut. Plus our facilities suck. A reporter asked, "Should athletic involvement be more prominent on the UCSC campus?" One answer: "No, I think the will of the student body should dictate whether we have sports or not. ...I'd like to use frats as an example."
WTF! Nevermind the frat vs. fraternity issue...what the hell do fraternities have to do with this? Ahhhhh f*ing hippies!!!
Oh Lucy K, have I got a dirty hippy story for you.
My lab partner and I were going through a collection and cataloging artifacts that are from the 1970s that were just kind of "forgotten" and dumped at our repository. She opened the bag and said "oh man, it smells like the 70's and hippies" and I opened the bag and took a whiff "It just smells like dirt" and she responds "EXACTLY"
Better than patchouli, that smells like mold and funky body odor to me. I'm telling you, just put up signs saying "vegan potluck, dreadlock workshop, and Phish jam band" and they will all take off.
