The ONLY time it's proper to ask for $$ is when the bride and groom will be traveling a lot (i.e. in the military) and it would be a PITA to lug many presents around. Other than that, TACKY!! I think I would have given them an actual subscription to "Bird Talk" or something of the like.

haha! i would do something like that too...if only there was some sort of way to register without insulting people all around...i will say this much, i got a ton of gift cards when i had my daughter last year because my sister and girlfriend "casually mentioned" them in conversations lol! it was exactly what i needed and nobody was insulted! worked for my cousin too when she got married. anytime someone mentioned not having a clue what to get her, i would say "oh, well we are getting her a gift card. i know she had mentioned they have a lot of stuff already, and most of the registry has been purchased..."

Registering isn't tacky.
Including the cards in invitations is. That's what friends and family are for -

Guest (calling hostess) - I'm calling to say I will be at Betty's shower. Where is she registered?

Hostess - She's registered at Bed,Bath and Beyond and Macy's. I'm so glad you will be able to come!

How hard was that???

I don't have a problem with the registration information being in a shower invitation because the whole purpose of a shower is to "shower" the bride to be with gifts. The wedding invitation, now that's different.

For my friend's shower, we (the bridesmaids and I) put the the little card in the invite for the shower, but it would never go in the actual wedding invitation.

As for the wedding website, I do have one. Mr. Pi Phi and I are having a destination wedding, so I thought it was the easiest way to get out all the travel information and country information and any other details that people might need. We sent out save the dates with the web address.

It's really handy and I know our guests have appreciated having all the information in one place.

Am I the only person in the world who does not like shower games? I mean, what's wrong with just eating good food, having cocktails, talking, and watching the bride open presents? Why do we need to play the "make a toilet paper dress" game?
