Question Bridal shower question...

Hey all,
Those of you who have had bridal showers thrown for you, did you get the people hosting it gifts? flowers?? My situation is not the normal maid of honor throwing the shower for me, so I don't know...long explanation short: two of my AOII sisters are throwing me a shower since my MOH is living across the country and can't throw me the shower but neither of them are in the wedding because the wedding is a destination deal very far away and they both recently had children and can't make the trip.

Suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!

I just saw my best friend married off earlier today. I was the MOH and hosted the shower along with her two bridesmaids. at the shower, she gave us each a rose along with a card. However, we did receive gifts (along with the remainder of the wedding party) at the rehearsal dinner last night. However, since they're not in the wedding, a gift would be appropriate as a token of your appreciation.

I've thrown many a shower, and I don't think I've received anything but a thank you note. However, I gave each of the women who were nice enough to throw a shower for me the same thing I gave my attendants - Waterford pendants.

So, I'd say that it's not a "must" but a very nice thought!

I threw my best friend's sister a bridal shower, and she gave me a beautiful silver jewelry box. This was the third shower I've thrown for someone and the first gift I received. I felt appreciated and honored - she stands out in my mins above other women I've thrown showers for as being especially thoughtful.

Emporium has some wonderful pendants on sale.
A nice Waterford or Lenox vase (the small ones that you can get three in a package) would be nice for all three attendants.

I only gave thank you cards because my showers were hosted by relatives.

I would send a thank you card and small gift or flowers depending on the size of the shower. If they're going all out and you think they're spending a lot of money then I would give a nicer gift. If it's casual low-key thing then I would maybe just get a few flowers and a thank you card.

When I got married, I was still a poor college student, and did not have the $$$ to give a gift to my shower hostesses. I felt terrible, as one of them was my best friend's mother, but I'm sure she understood.

I do think it's a lovely gesture.

My 3 aunts and my grandma hosted my shower. I got the aunts a big cancdle from Pier 1 ($8 each - Gma can't have candles in her assisted living place). I then got a 3 pack of small pic frames at Pier 1 and split it up ($10 I think). I got Gram a little photo album.

I always thought you gave a gift to someone who hosted your shower - relative or not...

Fpr my bridal showers and baby showers I always gave the hostess a gift. And the showers that I have hosted I have always received a gift. Something small and just a token of appreciation is still nice--just to show your gratitude.

Yes, I gave a hostess gift to each of my hostesses. Some of the items I gave were:

Funny cocktail napkins wrapped with a matching cheese spreader (from Swoozie's)

Bottles of wine

Margarita mixes and colored salt from Pier One

Gift certificates to a local spa

Potted plants

Picture frame (and later sent a TY note including a picture of the hostess and myself taken at the shower)

Hope this helps!
