Actually Vinyard Vines is from Martha's Vinyard and has been around in the north for over a decade. I first ran into vinyard vines stuff in Annapolis, MD. before I ever saw it in the south.
Just fyi - no biggie.
Now Southern Proper ???

I think the text writers for that website were heavily inspired by the J.Peterman storyline in Seinfeld (and the even maybe the real J.Peterman )

I live out west, but I thought anything below the Mason Dixon line was technically "The South" which would include Annapolis, Maryland. Am I wrong?

I actually rather like VV (which is odd because most people in Ohio are not familiar with it). I have family in GA and they love the stuff so I grew to like it a lot.
I've heard of Southern Proper, but only because my friends at SEC schools swear by it. I know that they mainly only make men's clothing, but I LOVE their purple skull ladies' headband.
I also find their "Belles for Beaus" program interesting:

Yeah, Vineyard Vines has been around for quite a while. I always thought it was funny that such an established New England company has become connected with Southern fashion.

Co-Sign. I remember when i was much younger and used to see Vineyard Vines on Nantucket, didn't think much of it went home one winter came back next summer and it was one of the biggest things around. No idea how it became synonymous with southern fashion

Fishing, Gulf Coast living, etc...
It makes quite a bit of sense, honestly.

Honestly - I remember going to the Vineyard and seeing people wearing it all over the place. Plus, I used to see it all around Boston. Then, I saw on here that it was a Southern fashion favorite. Not judging at all, just thought it was interesting it had spread across the country.
