^^ Ok, what's up with the goat thing?? I've heard a ridiculous number of people spread rumors that an organization does something with a goat at initiation. What exactly are these new members supposedly doing with said goat?

right before I was initiated they were saying things about a goat lol. I think it's name was Bob. We all knew they were joking and it was really funny. Didn't know so many other chapters used a goat too lol.

You don't wanna be first and you don't wanna be last.
I dunno, it's a funny thing to joke with pledges about.

I love yelling "Bring out the goat!" when they're all lined up.
eta: do you really not know what the goats about?

I know what it's about, I find it hard to believe people can't figure it out. When they're lined up someone off in dark going "Mahaahh!" while everyone else yells "The goat's here!" is amazing.

On my own, using my imagination, I had come to two different conclusions.. For one, you’re facing the front of the goat, the other, you’re facing the back. I had never heard what exactly the whole story was though.
Either way, it didn't sound fun. haha

"Riding the goat" as an aspect of initiation into secret societies, and as a general euphemism for initiation itself, goes way back, originally being applied to Odd Fellows and Freemasons. A pretty good history of it can be found here.
From "riding the goat," it wasn't a long trip to goats have all kinds of parts to play in initiations.

"Riding the goat". So that is what the kids are calling *it* these days.
And great picture!
