Because you connect with the values of an established group and want to carry on their history. Because you want a national or regional network of brothers or sisters.

If everyone had the "why join an existing group when I could start my own" mentality, fraternities and sororities simply would not exist. New members are the lifeblood of every GLO. How would you get new members if no one wants to join an existing group?
