*WELL!* *How dare they?*

Unfortunately, I have broken out with "Bye Bye" at work, but I always do get teased about it. We sang "Grandma Was An ADPi" a lot - if you ever read my Retro Recruitment thread, that's the song I had memorized.

I've never heard American Pi - would you mind sharing?

Someone posted it previously, but we only sing the chorus:

And they were singing
Byebye Miss American Pi
Good to see you
Glad to meet you
Hope that we caught your eye
We hope these times we shared will never pass you by
We really hope you choose ADPi...
We really hope you choose ADPi!!!

I read this thread about once a year since it started and it always gets me singing under my breathe by the time I read through it.

We were big on Boom Boom and Grandma was an ADPi, but we also had a song I loved to the tune of "yankee doodle dandy"

"I'm an alpha delta pi girl
alpha delta do or die
a real live college girl with lots of class
true blue in a-ye-de-pi
pledge that alpha delta pi girl
activated by and by
went to Eastern
looked around
and found the best sorority
now I'm an alpha delta
now I'm an alpha delta
now I'm an alpha delta pi-i-i.....

who who who am I?
I'm an alpha delta pi
alpha
delta
alpha delta pi - hey!"

Yes, it show my age, (pledge and active) but I still love it.....
BTW - did anyone else sing the "Pi Guy" song...every year we selected a group of guys that we loved and told them to meet someplace (usually under the guise of asking them to help build the teeter totter for teeter totter marathon) and when they all got there we sang to them to let them know they were this years "Pi Guys".....I love that song too...

"ADpi, I lost my heart to you
I can't forget
I'll ne''er regret.
You made me love you
And I'll be true
I'll love you til the stars have set.
Two hands that clasp,(clasping hand sound)
In friendship hold.
Stars that shine
To light the Gold.
And I wil love you
Until the world grows cold
And the stars have turned to gold.
My Alpha Delti Pi Guy."

I love Adpi songs.

Omigosh! We sang the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" song, too! There was a campy rush skit with different eras, and that was from the 1920's era. You're the first sister outside of my chapter who ever heard of it!

I don't know the Pi Guy Song, though - it sounds wonderful! We just had a Black Diamond Beau, though - no Pi Guys. As my roomie used to say, "Many tried, but no one made it..."!

Oh, my gosh! I remember this song! The minute I started reading it, the tune came to me right away! And I would never, ever, have remembered it otherwise! I think what threw me as I was reading your description is that I was thinking we didn't have a song for the guys. This song was just one we sang for us; the last line, for us, was "...my Alpha Delta Pi." This song was always so beautiful with harmony on the "And I will love you..."

I think we sang the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" but the words weren't quite the same.

Thanks for another college memory!
