Favorite Rush Cheer or Chant?
 

Okay ADPis what was your favorite ADPi Rush Cheer or Chant? We had the most success with "Boom Boom". Also, "When those ADPi girls fall in Line" was pretty popular. But I have to say the sisters would really tear it up with "Boom Boom."

We have a lot of chants because that is that ADPi's are known for... I don't know if I actually have a favorite, maybe one that is the most tiring! here are a few..

Boom Boom is great! We had to change it a little so instead of Boom Boom we say Hey Hey (the Tri-Deltas have a song that goes Ba-doom, Ba-doom, and it sounded too much like we might be trying to step on their turf).

Do any of you sing "Bye Bye" as a chant when they're leaving? To this day, that song is forever burned in my head. If someone says bye bye, my brain kicks into-- "wipe a tear baby dear from your eye-hi, we hate to see you go, you'll soon be back we know-oh..."

Our big goodbye song is:

Boom Boom seems to be universal!! :D

We also did "We the girls in white and blue" and "Grandma was an ADPi" alot. As I read threads on Greek Chat, I realize that there's a LOT of sororities who can't say that their grandmothers were in their sorority!

One thing we did during rush (that they're not allowed to do anymore!): AI is on the 10th (top) floor, so after Pref, a sister would get into the elevator with the pnms, and "accidently" hit all the floors. What they didn't know was that all the ADPis were running down the stairs, and by the time the pnms hit the lobby, we were singing to them again! It really knocked their socks off!

I have one, that is my absolute FAVORITE!


We form a circle around one sister (who can yell very well) and we all stomp our feet and clap in time.

The leading sister yells:
"I say let me hear that Pi Spirit!"
We say:
"What say you say?"
Leading sister yells:
"I said let me hear that Pi Spirit!"
We say:
"What say you say?"
Leading Sister yells:
"I said let me hear that Pi Spirit!"
We say:
"What say you say?"
Everyone yells and claps in time:
"Alpha Delta Pi! Alpha Delta Pi! Alpha Delta Pi! Ugh! One more time!"
"Alpha Delta Pi! Alpha Delta Pi! Alpha Delta Pi! Ugh! One more time!"

Then usually someone will say, "let's do it again!" And we do. :)

I really wish I could actually show you this chant in person. I absolutely LOVE this one! I am sure that by typing it out right here, it doesn't seem as awesome as it does when we're actually doing it.

One more! At UCF, each sorority has their own cheer called "the hottie"-- I know other schools probably do this or some kind of variation....

A! (This "A" is held for a long time while all the sisters run to join in, arms raised in a motion that I can only explain as the FSU Seminole Chop, done really fast and the chant is said really quickly).... ok where was I?

(Then, everyone screams and cheers-- totally gets the adrenaline going; we do this after Recruitment selection, candlelightings, intramurals, or whenever we're all together and feeling really good about our sisterhood.)

I *loved* learning Hottie Tottie!!! (though someone said other chapters do "Roooooooar" instead of AAAAAAaaaaaaaaay! I like Aaaaaay!) Being the equivalent of an alum initiate and learning, like, seven new songs within three days was a bit overwhelming, and this one is FAST!

I also liked Grandma was an ADPi (we usually skipped mom), and We got your A, and "A, A, A to the D"

But what's Boom Boom? I don't know if I've heard that one!


Dumb question-- can NPC groups sing drinking songs (unofficially, of course, since I'm sure we can't officially!)?

I honestly don't know of a policy, per se, but it's probably something you do and don't mention to NPC-- those gray areas. Somehow, though, I think if anyone wants to swap these songs from Greek Chat, those are probably better left to private messaging :)

My chapter of initation has no drinking songs, but the chapter I advise does-- they are hysterical, but they never directly mention the sorority's name-- instead, they refer to violets, deltas, etc.

Regardless, there are some fun songs out there-- all the more reason to enjoy being a member of the BEST sorority!
