OTW -- I had a car stolen several years ago and got it back much like you did. The window was broken and my CD player gone.
In my case, I found a little humor in it all -- the kids (I'm assuming) who stole the car took the cheap crap CD player, but left the $200 briefcase which was in the back seat.
