New Girl in the House!

I am an Appalachian Alumnae. I was Greek at previous school, then transferred. Recruitment is not as competitive as the larger NC schools, like UNC or Duke, but remember that no recruitment process at any school is a cakewalk. Recs are not absolutely required, but they would certainly help you if you have them. This is only the second time that recruitment has been held in the fall for incoming freshman ladies, and they also eliminated deferred rush for the guys too this year. That has really increased the Greek Life buzz, not to mention the two new Chapters that will be recruiting this fall too (AOPi and SAE). I am sure that the number of women going through has increased quite a bit since I graduated.

I'd love to hear how that goes! From my understanding once they moved away from deferred recruitment the numbers for sororities skyrocketed. I talked to several members from different sororities. I would love to hear how it changes the fraternity scene at App.

I'm very interested to see how it plays out too! I suspect similar results to the girls, especially since the guys have yet another new colony to consider! Greek life is really expanding at a fast pace at Appalachian. What can I say, it's a great place to be!

The Panhellenic Hall (the converted hotel), is super nice. The rooms are enormous, much better than the regular dorms at App. It is an awesome home for the ladies!

I love Boone and Appalachian! My boyfriend's mom was a charter member for one of their orgs and is now an advisor and we go up to their mountain house all the time. Don't tell anyone I went to the rival school...

I've been wanting to see the inside of the Panhellenic hall...it looks like it would be a fun place and also seems like it would probably bring the sororities together in some sense. Before my school had houses I lived on the hall and the other sororities were on different floors of the same building and it made the Panhellenics so much closer than now with the houses.
