Be careful what you wish for about having recruitment later. When I was in school at UGA we were on the quarter system and class didn't start to about Sept. 15th and we could never have rush during the Jewish holidays (this was late 1970's). So rush would sometimes start about 2 days AFTER CLASSES BEGIN and you went to classes all day had rush parties at night then had selection sessions to 2 or 4 am in the morning and then have to go to class the next day. Needless to say by the time rush was over you were already a week behind in your classes (not good for the academics). Having said that I like the way UVA does it and have rush before Winter Semester begins that way the girls are adjusted to college life and campus and maybe make better decisions. I'm sure there are other ladies on here that remember these times at UGA because it is true at that time you were given cards that told you what houses you were invited back to and then you decided where to go ( no ranking then). I had forgotten until someone mentioned it, but the houses you decided to cut you could regret or regret with interest which meant if you were cut out of rush you were still interested in those houses.
