It just seems like UGA is much less forthcoming with results than other comparable campuses like Auburn and Alabama. I am impressed by the fact that the post bid lists on bid day, and seem to maintain good stats over time.

Last year they did post the bid lists pretty promptly. I hoped it was part of a trend, but if they've moved back to the previous director, I'm not sure what that means.

And honestly, we're really only talking less forthcoming than two of the most open campuses in the country.

Alabama and Auburn are exceptions in publishing the bid lists and distributing them to newspapers. Most colleges and universities ignore this news - and it IS "news." A name and a hometown is hardly a lot of information. I'm very glad that they do this - the day they quit doing it, believe me, they'll hear about it!

Have to agree...when you move recruitment - especially a massive one - to occur concurrently with classes, there's a lot of conflict. PNMs have to miss classes to go to parties...or vice versa. The longer you delay, the more vicious the tent talk and the more ridiculous the rumors. It's so much better to get it done and over with.

You're probably right! It's certainly not unheard of that girls leave school when they don't get their choice of sorority...stupid as that is.

It's true: I have a friend who transferred schools three times until she got into Gamma Phi Beta.

true, true.

It was funny because her mom was a KD and her sister a Chi O. She turned down a bid from one of the houses at one school and dropped out at a second school after Gamma Phi had dropped her, even though she had both Chi O and KD left.

She knew what she wanted though...

That is some serious devotion! Wow! When did this happen if you don't mind my asking? Sorry, I've just never heard of someone transferring schools *multiple times* for the sole intention of joining a particular sorority. Not that Gamma Phi isn't worth it

like two years ago! She started out at an out-of-state school and turned down the bid, so she was "stuck" there a year. Went to an in-state school and was dropped by Gamma Phi after second rounds. Dropped out of rush, finished her semester there and transferred to another in-state school where Gamma Phi was doing COB in the spring.

I was shocked when she told me she was transferring again, but she really wanted to be a Gamma Phi and was smart enough to know how rare AI is.
