SWTXBelle - I have often thought exactly that about carnations, although sometimes finding wine ones is a challenge and you end up going with spray painted wine-tipped ones. They look great if you combine them with blue-tipped ones.

I can't wait to see all the fun bid day pix from the various groups. Does anyone else remember a few years ago when Auburn posted actual pix from the current recruitment up on the website (one day late) all week long? That was so much fun to look at the girls at the actual events.

Amen! I couldn't imagine trying to hold recruitment in the way Auburn does after classes begin. All I could focus on that week was sleep, eat, recruitment parties, and setting up for the next day.

Yep, you and ADPi have it rough. AEPhi, too. When you can find Lillies of the Valley they cost an arm and a leg.

I have had a lot of cut flowers at my house recently. The irises from Proflowers (in a long green box) lasted a week. The ones from other vendors were the typical 3-4 days at best. All the irises happened to be the non-bearded variety. The other flowers from Proflowers remained fresh for a long time as well.

If charged with this task, I think I might try to grow them inside from bulbs so you could leave them rooted. Can't you trick them into blooming whenever by refrigerating the bulbs and then starting to grow them?
It'd be pretty funny to see enough irises for a recruitment growing that way. Of course, you'd need a sister with a greenhouse or a garage or potting shed with enough grow lights that the DEA would investigate.

Reason: FDA, that joke didn't even make sense.

Hi there - actually, no NPC and NIC fraternity have a national borther/sister relationship. Just to clarify that. It's true that groups sometimes consider themselves "brother/sister" on a campus basis, but there is no such national relationship.
Theta is still a great opportunity though!
Yay for our new baby angel!!!!
And re: wine carnations, then there are the times you order wine carnations and they say they can get them for you.... and you just get red.

I had mentioned the "sister sorority" yesterday in another post. You are correct, there is no such thing on a campus.

Ah - I had thought I read the posts thoroughly but obviously not so much. But yeah. No such thing.

more than quota
I have never heard of pledging more than quota. Is that part of the evening out process?

Actually, it probably has more to do with trying to place the girls. Often the groups receiving additions are already some of the bigger groups.
My impression is that when a group gets a bunch of quota additions beyond one or two it may be because they were smaller to being with than the other groups that the QA girls preffed.
The groups get to pledge more than quota because after regular bid matching some PNMs (rushees) who listed all the groups that they preffed on the bid card did not match to any group through regular bid matching. So panhellenic looks at the groups the girls listed, and sometimes they match by the girl's preference and at other schools, I think they do it by group size so the girls are matched to the smallest group they have listed.
ETA: it doesn't necessarily mean that every girl gets matched. Usually there is a cap on the number of QAs.
