No doubt.

I suppose with this whole incident, I wonder how "real" any of the kids thought it was. Not that it's a good strategy, but I think most of them probably knew what was up pretty earlier on and that because most probably didn't buy in wholeheartedly, they didn't really lose that much trust for authority. I suspect most knew it was a drill/ program.

But as a classroom teacher, I couldn't have been a part of that kind of program if the goal was really to make them really think a friend was dead. I just couldn't willingly deliver that much damage, even in the spirit of "it's for their own good."

I do believe that theatrical stuff really does work well with teenagers, and I'm somewhat sympathetic to the efforts to get teenagers to appreciate the risks they face (although I consider it a largely pointless effort).
