I'm not going to speak for them, but I know at Arkansas the bid cards don't mean jack. If you sign someone in the summer, the fraternity just rips them up after you sign 'em. They're not binding by any means.

If you go to Arkansas, no.

I mean, to be fair, the fraternity likely wants you with them (if you don't fuck up) and will give you a bid come bid day. It's more of a psychological thing. But receiving a bid early isn't binding for you, at all. You'll sign a real bid card on bid day.

This is all if you go to Arkansas though.

On my campus you could get a bid and sign it as early as you want in the Summer. It is meaningless until Bid Due day when the fraternity actually turns in the paperwork (bid) information to the Greek Life offices.
