Senator Obama isn't even the official nominee yet, and there is already what is probably a smear campaign against his wife.
If it's real, let's see some documented proof.
This is lower than "politics as usual."
This is disgusting.

A few days ago, John McCain gave an incredible speech on foreign policy where he talked in greater depth and detail than I have EVER heard from Bush. Agree with him or not, it was an amazing presentation addressing specific treaties and NATO agreements.
A couple of weeks ago, Obama gave a speech on foreign policy in which he said we should not be worried about Iran because it is a tiny country. I guess he forgot the part where a small organization of terrorists killed 3,000 Americans on 9-11-01. Obama's comments about Iran reflect a complete and utter disregard for the realities of how terrorism works, or the fact that has arisen as the one way very small entities can effectively attack large nations.
Obama is unelectable on the issues, pure and simple. If he is the nominee, he will not only lose but I expect he will lose big. This does not mean he is an idiot, but that when you peel back the "hope and change" veneer- you are left with someone who is a very far left liberal in a country hungry for moderates- as Bill Clinton was and as Bush promised to be when he campaigned in 2000.
At the end of the day, going after Michelle is just a very ungentlemanly thing to do regardless of what one thinks will happen in November. It is surely hard enough on Presidential candidate spouses and children as it is without putting them in the line of political fire. I was really pissed when a popular lifestyle magazine targeted a Bush daughter when she was caught drinking underage in a restaurant here in Austin, and I would be just as pissed if Michelle Obama got the same expose treatment for something she might have said.
But in this particular case I think we have the added reassurance that Obama has already done enough damage to himself on substantive issues to ensure his defeat. The media is not reporting this stuff right now- the speeches I reference above were slight mentions on Fox News and I did not see them elsewhere- but when we get into the final debates and the whole Obama vs. Hillary ordeal is over, it will all be out there for all to see.

I know, how dare the GOP in Tennessee show a clip of EXACTLY what Michelle said!

I agree.
And this whole thing got me thinking a bit.
Until the OP started this, I had not heard anything about this.
So, this weekend, I will have some conversations with my friends who are in at least two of the camps involved in this matter.
And I took some time tonight to track down what I could find on-line.
Found a few things that, well as much as some do not like doing, I will let you look at:
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05...-the-iraq-war/
http://garlinggauge.com/2008/05/19/g...y-video-lurks/
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05...comment-258024
http://bondibox.newsvine.com/_news/2...am-desperation
Bottom line to all of the above, and what I am sure is more to come, everyone is pointing their fingers at everyone else and saying just about anything about everything.
Will be every interesting IF either tape, yes there are claims of two tapes, ever shows up and if so just what is on it/them.

Is this what you are referring too:

As this site indicates, always at least two ways to hear/interpret what someone says.

But she's a political figure now, just like any other Obama spokesperson.

I think that the extremist views of a candidate's spouse are more than relevant.

Once again I pose the question, why were dems worried about how much Cindy McCain filed in taxes last year? Thats a lot less relevant than if Obama's wife is racist or if she holds extremist views?

Putting Michelle Obama off limits is like girls who try to start fights with guys.
You can't hold yourself out as someone with clout sufficient to influence voters and then hide behind your husband. I don't want people to make fun of her personal appearance, or go after her child-raising abilities, or anything of that sort. But if she's got extreme views and was dumb enough to state them for a camera, I certainly think that is relevant. If Cindy McCain turned out to be a white supremacist, I certainly wouldn't want her to represent this country as First Lady.
