BTW2, I have given people exercises on (race and) gender differences. I asked them to list what makes (racial groups and) men/women gender groupings different from each other. The responses are interesting and some of them were perceived biological differences between males and females, as well as social differences. But people confused the biological with the social.

that's what i was getting at in my head... i havent read the whole thread but im sure this has been pointed out. sex DNE gender. and i really hope PB doesnt think that "most men" are visual and that he is the exception to the "rule" by needing more than that. bah, whatever, at some point we ALL need those things. no one person (man or woman) can go on just on visual attraction.

tld221, I'm not saying I'm the exception to the rule. I'm just saying that some men including me must have a serious monogamous relationship with only one woman. Yes I am visual. Very visual, but at the same time, I want commitment with only one woman. Some men like looking at different body parts on women. For me it's her legs and her feet. I'm sure you all have seen my posts on that. This is important to me. I literally will not get in a relationship with a woman if she's physically lacking in the leg and feet area. She can have a great personality, a pretty face and a bangin' body, but if her feet are jacked, I'll let her know that we can just be friends or associates. I know that's shallow, but it's what I like and a must have in order for me to get involved with her. I am very visual, so I'm not singling myself out at all. You have to go back and read the whole post. I mentioned that some men are like me with the spiritual and emotional connection, but we're still visual.

Ladies, I understand you are visual, but men are more visual. In a relationship, I think that both men and women must accept the fact that we're different, and those differences will never change. We have to understand those differences and dwell together according to knowledge. I don't know what makes women tick, but I think it's important in any serious relationship to try and meet as many of each others needs (physically and emotionally) that we possibly can with the resources that we have.

can i just mini-rant and go OFF about how annoying and obnoxious (and borderline embarrassing) it is to be catcalled? its like, great, you think im hot but does the whole world need to know what you'd do to me if you had the chance?
does "being visual" mean being a vulgar ass? i mean really. its flattering, but then its really not. theres a difference in being straightforward about your intentions but another to scream out "yo, we f***ing tonight?"

It sho don't.
And you'll notice that men who are truly secure in their masculinity and their accomplishments are least likely to do the cat calling. Unless they are succumbing to peer pressure, perhaps.
I can think of instances where females have done catcalling as a joke to tease men and let them know how stupid it is. And I can also think of the "types of men" that I can expect catcalling from versus "the types of men" who are more likely to express my hotness in a smarter way.

That isn't about being more visual than women, though.
That's about this false sense of masculinity and manhood, mixed with insecurity and a need to assert power in the dumbest of contexts.

I do think the ingredients of desire may differ for men and women, but there are some similarities. While I did say that men are a bit more visual than women, (depending on the person) I do think that visual stimuli spur sexual stirrings in some women as they do in some men. I just think that men are more drawn to visual erotica, which explains the lure of magazines such as Playboy. I think most female desire is fueled by a richer cognitive emotional kind of thing. Kind of what PB said, but just not as one sided. I think a lot of women tend to experience desire as a result of feeling comfortable with themselves and the partner, or feeling safe and perceiving a true bond with the partner, yet the sexual imagery devoid of emotional connections can arouse some women just as it can in men. So like I said earlier to Daemon, it really altogether depends on the person. Like Dionysus said, for me too, it's so much for to it than just looks.

If it was a small corn, I would buy her some corn medication so we could get rid of it. If it looked like something hideous, we would just be friends. Her toes have to be aligned right too.

i do real all your posts actually, jarring bold, italic darkred text and all. but honestly the takeaway was "i know everything about how men operate: were visual, and way more than women!"
what are you really trying to convince us of?
