Because everyone else is worried about being politically correct while the South, thank God, holds on the to values we believe and doesn't give a damn about what other people think of us.

i just want to double check that all other minorities receive the same discrimination at your chapters because otherwise you aren't truly sticking to your values.

I don't see anything in how we choose members as discrimination. To discriminate is deny someone a right, and membership in my fraternity is NOT a RIGHT but rather a PRIVILEGE of which we can give, or take away as we see fit. If you don't like the way we do business, you don't have to, but don't criticize us for exercises our rights.

How many posts have you been reading, "new person?"

Now, does this diversion attempt mean that you can't remind me of what this country's culture is?

What we had before it became acceptable for oiled-up gay men in full bondage gear to parade through the streets of downtown Atlanta every year. If heterosexuals did that they would be arrested instantly. Not to compare gays in fraternities to that, but a view on the changes in our culture which the South generally protests and rightly so.

Back to basics.

I asked him to remind me of what America's culture is.

If this country's culture is going into the tank, that implies an understanding of what our culture was before the decay and what the culture should be.

So far, I've read about Christianity and hardwork. Is that all that went and goes into the creation and perpetuation of a solid American culture?

It's religion (and the original religious source of America's moral culture is Christianity), it's media influence, and it's a million other things that would indeed fill a 50,000 page essay.

Not true, there isn't anything morally wrong with being black, hispanic, asian, etc. Most southerners are of the opinion that there is something morally wrong with being gay.

Fine. This country's culture is one of moral decay. We have an overwhelming sense of entitlement (which isn't always a bad thing, only when it's undeserved). Everyone expects special treatment and that there will always be someone there to provide a safety net when they ruin their lives by their own idiotic choices. Specific groups in this country have carried themselves in a way where they go through life looking for things to be offended by and then demand that they be compensated for and apologized to for something that was never intended to be offensive. Because of that people are scared to speak their minds and go about biting their tongues, further worsening our country because no one has the balls to point out the obvious problems.

This is crap. Anyone who can state this so definitively does not have an accurate sense of history.

I found that to be especially true for the extremely privileged white youth that I have taught.

That's okay, though, because these white youth obviously come from a background of blue blooded hardworking whites who earned their social statuses.

Not to make this discussion about race but it has become about minority group status. What these posters are typing has gone way beyond fraternity membership and homosexuals as a minority (in power and status) group. To discuss entitlement and welfare is obviously not about homosexuals.
