It won't be quite that bad. One movie will come out in November 2009 and the other in May 2010.

My son and I have both read them. They're great.
We met Rick Riordan at a reading and book signing for the latest book,
The Battle of the Labyrinth. He seemed like a very nice guy -- he certainly was willing to take time with all the kids.
There is indeed a movie of
The Lightening Thief in pre-preduction. Riordan said there is a tentative release date of November 2009. (Although, that may change depending on when it gets finished and the fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I, is set to come out that same month.
