Final Harry Potter Book Will Be 2 Movies

HP and the Deathly Hallows will be made into 2 movies instead of one.

I rather like this because I feel that one movie is not enough to do justice to a book like this one. As it is, Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix failed to live up to my expectations because so much was taken out of them to make them fit into 1 movie.

"The "Potter" film franchise has pulled in $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office."

I just can't even fathom that much money.

Maybe I am saying this just because I have never read to books, but does anyone else this this two movie business just sounds like a ploy to make more money?

I think for the last book in the Harry Potter series it may be neccessary to have two movies AND it will make more money. ;)

There is no way I would want to be the director of the last movie(s).
I can just imagine the amount of pressure that would come with it. Fans can be ruthless.

splitting the final movie into 2 parts and then waiting 1 year to show them is a very bad idea...i am not happy about this..

I think the movies are really bad and this will make it worse!

Have any of you read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan?

My boys liked Harry Potter, but my younger son liked these even better.
I can picture The Lightening Thief as a movie- and introducing a whole generation of kids to Greek mythology!

It won't be quite that bad. One movie will come out in November 2009 and the other in May 2010.

My son and I have both read them. They're great.

We met Rick Riordan at a reading and book signing for the latest book, The Battle of the Labyrinth. He seemed like a very nice guy -- he certainly was willing to take time with all the kids.

There is indeed a movie of The Lightening Thief in pre-preduction. Riordan said there is a tentative release date of November 2009. (Although, that may change depending on when it gets finished and the fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I, is set to come out that same month.

^^^At least they're only 6 months apart instead of a year, but COME ON....2010? You might as well yell "Crucio" and call it a day.

Considering that Half Blood Prince isn't coming out until July, 2009, I think if Deathly Hallows comes out in 2010, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

I can see why they would make it into two movies, but it will still be something of a letdown to have to wait that long to see the second part.

nikki1920 03-08-2009 08:45 PM

Considering how much we fans complained that XYZ was left out of the movie, I think they owe it to us to give us the ENTIRE Deathly Hallows book, as written. This way everyone is happy: the fans get the whole book, the studio gets huge returns. Either way, I'll be at the first showing of both movies. :)
