You can play devil all you want. I didn't say they should; I was merely asking if anyone has had that situation and if their pledge period was different.

For some reason I have a hard time believing Eli Manning was sitting at his pledge meetings in coat and tie every Monday night.

To a degree, I think that may be the case with most athletics. Especially when they are on scholarship. If there is a *direct* conflict with their sport, the sport wins. The same curtsey should be given to any other pledge who has "scholarship requirements" (or school specific requirements/activities) that might conflict with his/her pledgeship. Having said that, I would hope that outside of these specific situations, the chapter would treat the "special pledges" like every other pledge.

Now what I would find more interesting would be how involved a "special pledge" was with their chapter.

From what I have heard from UK Kappas, Miss Ashley Judd's pledge period (Kappa Kappa Gamma at The University of Kentucky) was rather normal. While she was not a celebrity per say then, she was (still is!) the daughter of Naomi Judd and sister of Wynonna Judd when she joined Kappa. While a member, she served as the Beta Chi Chapter's Fraternity Education Chair.

I am also pleased to report that she was a member of the UK Honors Program and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa.

And for what it is worth, I would venture to guess that Mr. Eli Manning is as much a gentleman as his Daddy. And as such, he is quite accustomed to wearing a coat and tie at any given time.
