A few questions:

1. Where are you getting the images you're putting on the shirts (bikini, palm tree, etc...)

2. What program are you using to create the shirts?

3. Where are you getting the shirts done and have you used them before?

I ask becuase most t-shirt places want files in vector format (created in illustrator or freehand). They can probably work with what you give them (meaning, they'll have to redraw everything in the program they use and it may cost more), but there's no guarantee it will look *exactly* like what you gave them.

If it's a place you've used before and you're happy with them, cool. Otherwise, don't be surprised if it's not exactly the same. Especially if you're just pulling low-rez jpegs off the intarweb.

Personally, they're just ok to me, nothing memorable. If you like them, that's all that matters.

They're expensive but it's worth it. Its expensive but well worth it.

Ouch. I'm getting the images from the internet (I checked the licensing stuff on them, theyre all public.)
The T-shirt place we use can do shirts from a print out or any image file, they usually clean them up to look nicer than the image you give them.

If you've used them before, know how they work and are happy with them, cool. I just know a lot of people think they've made these SUPERAWESOME designs with a few web images slapped together in Paint and are disappointed when it doesn't look exactly the same. That's all.

i feel the need to step in. sorry. ISUKappa is absolutely right. as a graphic designer and someone who's worked at a t-shirt printing place before, it's unlikely that these shirts will be reproduced the way you want. if you'd like, you can send me a high-res jpeg of the coat of arms and i'll redraw the rest so it isn't f'ed up.

p.s. i have time to do it tonight while i'm at work. we're hella slow. i can't stand letting other people use bad images and mix photos with illustrations when it's not appropriate.

do ya'll have a chapter/regional listserve? that's what i used to get one for my org. i just sent out a polite e-mail to everyone and i got a ton of useful responses. also, WhenDovesCry, i understand with a screen printing shop it's easy to reproduce accurately, but his design has both illustrated and photo elements. the graphic designer at the shop would have to go through and re-draw everything using illustrator or a comparable program in order for it to be printable. that would cost quite a bit extra and it wouldn't look EXACTLY the same. the bikini top and lei would be completely different. it wouldn't look bad at all, but it would cost extra and not be exactly what he had designed.

If your gunna try to look like Corona, do it right. Make it actually look like Corona, font and everything.
The Fijis at my school did a Budweiser style shirt for rush and it was almost identical to the budweiser symbol. It looked really good.
When you use an odd font and not a very authentic look, it takes away most effect.
By the way, does every Fiji chapter have an Islander party, cuz the Fijis at my school do that too

corona design

Here is a shirt I created for some Lambda Chi's with essentially the same theme. They looked great when they were finished. I agree with the above...I am very anal whenever I design anything and it has to be as close to perfect as I can come up with. I enjoy doing it though....My art is always free if someone uses me for printing.

You do realize that "LAMBDA" *IS* misspelled, right?

You beat me to it! Not only is it missing the "b", but the a looks like an o. On first glance, I saw "Lomda". The artwork is free, eh? Shocking, with such quality and all.

OOPS. Well the final version was spelled right...I added the wrong file...it has been updated. Lovely...you never get a second chance to make a first impression right? I assure you...that I can spell Lambda...and if I am too dumb to spell it.....someone in the chapter would catch it before the sign off on it.

As for the A that looks like an O....it is the Corona font....If they want a corona design...you can't really blame the artist on Corona's font choices.
