Help on shirt design
http://aycu25.webshots.com/image/448...1724558_rs.jpg
What should I put in the middle or should I maybe scrap the whole thing? The logo up top is going to be on the breast of the shirt and this is the back design. |
I get that you're trying to do a "Corona" type theme, but do you really have to use Old English font? At first glance it was hard to read "FIJI".
Is there a trademark on the crown? |

I agree with OTW - the font is very hard to read. Maybe a less scripty font?
As far as what to put in the middle, I'm not sure. Is this going to be a shirt for brothers only, or something passed out to attendees? |

I like the shirt design, just not the font. Save the Old English font for gang-banger graffiti and prison tattoos.

Wait - weren't you the one that said that the nickname Fiji is gay and your chapter doesn't use it??
Other than that, I think the whole design is amazingly cliche and cheesy. If you insist on it though (yes, I know you suggested above that you'd be willing to scrap it, but I have a feeling you'll come back and defend every crticism of it, which says otherwise)...as others have suggested - change the font. The only other thing you MIGHT add is either a palm tree or a lime. One or the other though, because ottherwise it's going to get cluttered. |

But seriously...FIJI is hard to read. |
Islander shirt
PHI GAM,
First, some posters don't understand that nearly all Phi Gamma Delta chapters celebrate with a "FIJI ISLAND" event, whether they prefer to be knows as Phi Gams or Fijis. There are, geographically, FIJI ISLANDS; nobody ever heard of PHI GAM ISLANDS! So--decide on something that is definitely in the tropical-island-hula-sand-palm tree theme. Corona is OK, but not as tropical as--say-- some kind of rum. Maybe you could tie in the lime that is always a part of the Conona experience? There are great Fiji Island shirts that have included palm trees, coconuts, hula girls, sunsets, outriggers, grass huts, etc. The play on "get lei'd" is clever and certainly works, but it has been used from coast to coast for years. You have a good start--think outside the box a little and just play with your ideas. Bright colors are also typical of Fiji Island shirts. Good luck; you have a nice start. And the comments about the Cornoa font are correct--it is a little difficult to read. |
^^^This is exactly along the lines of my initial reaction. First, I heartily agree that both "FIJI" and "Everyone" are very difficult to decipher in that font.
But more importantly, I think Mexican when I think Corona. So if you're doing a "lei'd" thing, something more tropical (like rum) would be more apropos and "islandy". Maybe something with Captain Jack's rum (everyone can "get jacked"), or you could spin it off further to Captain Jack Sparrow and incorporate a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. That could offer all kinds of possibilities. |
Font looks like a pointy blob to me and the shirt will be "lost in translation" from people squinting. Lack of impact.

font is difficult to read. capt. jack rum theme, pirates of the caribbean theme, "limin'"=chillin in the b.v.i.'s, tommy bahamas theme would all work well with fiji island theme.
you might google "pirate t-shirts" (there are hundreds of designs) for some inspiration-cafepress.com is one you might try. let us know what the final design looks like. |

cosign on the font needing to be changed; it's REALLY difficult to read! do you have a font reading program? if so, try dafont.com for some really fun and different fonts.

Yes, change the font. There are less intricate old English-type scripts out there--you've just got to find them. Google "free font downloads" and see what you come up with.
Some cute (OK, maybe a bad word to use about a fraternity shirt, but oh well) graphics on the back would be cool. Maybe have a couple people sitting in chairs on the beach looking out over the ocean with leis hanging on their chairs (think Corona's commercials here) and then "Everyone gets lei'd / date" above them in the sky of the beach theme, and then frame the back graphics with a couple of palm trees. Have fun with this. See if there's an artsy brother who'd want to help or if t-shirt company who's printing them has a graphic designer on staff. There are soooo many great graphics you could come up with that relate to the Corona theme there. As a girl, the more intricate fraternity shirts are the ones I like to wear...and re-wear...and re-wear....thus boosting your fraternity's visibility on campus via girls wearing your stuff. Good luck! |
