Just out of curiosity I did a quick google to see if any other young Hollywood females were teen mothers and I saw that Keisha Castle-Hughes (she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the Whale Rider and was Mary in the Nativity Story) just had a baby in April. She was 16 when she got pregnant and was 17 when the baby was born.

According to IMdb she has several movies lined up, so being a teen mom hasn't hurt her career.

At the same time though, she wasn't a publicity whore about it. She had a very quiet pregnancy. Many people wouldn't even know that she had a baby because she didn't do an interview with OK Magazine about it.

I don't think it's the pregnancy that hurts young actresses' careers. I think it's the publicity that some attempt to garner that hurts their careers.

$1000 says she gets a phonecall from Playboy at 12:01AM on her 18th Birthday.

I would agree. It seems like the words "publicity whore" and "spears" are now interchangable.

I'm pretty sure she did go to US Weekly a few times. I remember reading quite a bit about her pregnancy and seeing the "first baby pictures." I just don't think she's as well known as Jamie Lynn or the Spears family so it didn't get this kind of attention.

I agree... supposedly JL is going to get $1M for the first published pictures of her baby and said something to the effect of "this is the best thing that's happened in my career"

Huh??

Getting pregnant at 16 and ALREADY pimping out your soon-to-be-newborn for cash is the best thing that's happened to her career?

Eeeep.

I mean, I realize that Brangelina and TomKat got lots of $ for the pics of their kids, but they didn't need the money (didn't they donate the money to charity? Or was that just the Jolie-Pitts?)... and all four of them already had quite a few successes prior to making babies.

If pimping out your baby's pictures for money is the best thing, then I'm afraid you're going to be having some problems....and you may very well end up just like your Mamma Spears.

On a sidenote, am I the only one who finds it hilarious that a Christian publishing company even though of giving Mamma Spears a book deal?

Boo. Sorry Ashlee! You'll have to shave your head or get preggers if you want the spotlight.
