Just out of curiosity I did a quick google to see if any other young Hollywood females were teen mothers and I saw that Keisha Castle-Hughes (she was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the Whale Rider and was Mary in the Nativity Story) just had a baby in April. She was 16 when she got pregnant and was 17 when the baby was born.

According to IMdb she has several movies lined up, so being a teen mom hasn't hurt her career.

At the same time though, she wasn't a publicity whore about it. She had a very quiet pregnancy. Many people wouldn't even know that she had a baby because she didn't do an interview with OK Magazine about it.

I don't think it's the pregnancy that hurts young actresses' careers. I think it's the publicity that some attempt to garner that hurts their careers.

$1000 says she gets a phonecall from Playboy at 12:01AM on her 18th Birthday.

I would agree. It seems like the words "publicity whore" and "spears" are now interchangable.

I'm pretty sure she did go to US Weekly a few times. I remember reading quite a bit about her pregnancy and seeing the "first baby pictures." I just don't think she's as well known as Jamie Lynn or the Spears family so it didn't get this kind of attention.

I agree... supposedly JL is going to get $1M for the first published pictures of her baby and said something to the effect of "this is the best thing that's happened in my career"

Huh??

Getting pregnant at 16 and ALREADY pimping out your soon-to-be-newborn for cash is the best thing that's happened to her career?

Eeeep.

I mean, I realize that Brangelina and TomKat got lots of $ for the pics of their kids, but they didn't need the money (didn't they donate the money to charity? Or was that just the Jolie-Pitts?)... and all four of them already had quite a few successes prior to making babies.

If pimping out your baby's pictures for money is the best thing, then I'm afraid you're going to be having some problems....and you may very well end up just like your Mamma Spears.

On a sidenote, am I the only one who finds it hilarious that a Christian publishing company even though of giving Mamma Spears a book deal?

... just 'cause I don't like Ashleeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Boo. Sorry Ashlee! You'll have to shave your head or get preggers if you want the spotlight.

Yikes. I didn't know Ashlee's 2nd album didn't do that well. I knew I hadn't heard as many singles from it. I liked her first album.

She not only got outshined by the preggers child, she also got outshined by Romo's love for her sister that's been all over the news for some darn reason.

I hate to be a cynic but, this girl may be 16 years old but she's hardly living the life of a 16 year old. That Zoey show was pretty terrible. Maybe this wasn't that much of an oops! at all, but possibly a move to make sure she didn't get type cast as a sticky sweet teen star. After this, it's a lot more reasonable to see her taking on darker, more adult acting roles.

Just a thought.

It's simply a case where kids in Hollywood grow up too fast and never knew their childhood

I'd hate to think that she got preggers on purpose in hopes that it would further her career.

That is just as bad as Mamma Spears pimping out her kids so she can have $ for herself.

I think it would be just as bad if this whole thing was a hoax (i.e. announcing she was pregnant and then "just happening" to have a miscarriage or something) just to get publicity for herself / further her career

I didn't see this posted anywhere in the thread (I could be wrong though) but all the gossip bloggers like Perez and TMZ were saying the other day that she's supposedly been pregnant since July and that the baby will be born sometime this spring.

Dont you think that this is to perfectly packaged? It has been said that JL is the conservative one of the Spears kids and that she is nothing like big sister Brittany. All of a sudden this squeeky clean kid at 16 is knocked up and is now since broken up from the baby daddy all spilling out in the same magazines that targets Britt's bad behavior. I really think that this is a ploy to take the heat off Brit like Janet Jackson and the dress malfunction during a half time game. That took the heat off Michael Jackson and is trial for a while. I was just putting this out there , i know i will get lambbashed for whatever i say, but i was just thinking this and wanted to see what you all think.
