According to the IO website, I found this...
"in 1946, ZTA adopted the Cerebral Palsy Division of the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults. Later, ZTA adopted Easter Seals. In 1970, ZTA formed an alliance with the Association for Retarded Citizens (now known as The ARC) as its national philanthropy. "

This wasn't until 1970.

*Ding*

Seeing as this was a tough one...

National Society for Crippled Children and Adults

Seriously, the only way I found this one out is because I talked to someone who had joined in 1952 and how important it was to her back then (her brother had Palsy).

Your turn

I pledged with ARC. Do they still do anything with them?

When I pledged it was ARC and they switched to the current philanthropy while I was still in college. I haven't heard of any continuing affiliation with ARC. Its a good question.

Yes!

Longwood opened for NPC colonization on Jan. 1st of 1949 and the local group, Mu Omega, became the re-born Alpha chapter on Jan. 20, 1949. All collegians and local alumnae of Mu Omega, including Maud Jones' sister-in-law, chose to be initiated into ZTA. Alpha was dormant for 43 years!
