Zeta Trivia

Hi! I'm a recently-initiated member and was looking around for some Zeta trivia. Are there any neat facts about sisters or our symbols other than the basics taught to new members? The website gives some mention of sisters who have achieved great success but not too many.

I'm also new to Greek Chat, if that wasn't super obvious haha. It's nice to find a group of sisters online! :)

I am going to say that it was at Alpha Chapter. I have heard the answer, and am going off the top of my head right now.

FSUZeta 06-17-2007 12:50 PM

anyone else?

PhenomenalZTA 06-17-2007 05:08 PM

A guess.

I have been through the history of zeta tau alpha 3 times now, and done a google search. I remember hearing this waaaaay back in the day. From the best of my knowledge I am going to guess...........

Gamma Chapter

Alpha just seems to obvious to me.

The first legacy was Bess Gardner who pledged the Kappa Chapter in 1924.

However, the first legacy to be initiated was Frances Grayson at the Delta Chapter who pledged in 1925, but was initiated one month prior to Bess.

I love The History of Zeta Tau Alpha! :)

Another question

The ZTA badge has remained unchanged in design for over 100 years; however, there were two small details (besides size) that were changed on our badge very early in our fraternity's history. What were these two details?

PhenomenalZTA 06-18-2007 10:15 PM

Ooh Ooh I know!

Yay, I am pretty sure I know this one!
1. The badge was completely flat as opposed to the raised center shield
on our beloved badge today.

2. The crown only had three points!!!

**fingers crossed**

I always thought those stickpin badges were soo soo cool!!

You are absolutely correct! :) I also loved the stickpin badges!

Do you have a fun trivia question to ask?

PhenomenalZTA 06-19-2007 12:06 AM

Trivia is Fun!

Ok here's one......

Had to hijack for a minute...I have a badge that is soldered to a locket and in looking at the tiny size of the badge at Convention, the national archivist informed me that it is over 100 years old! The badge size was standardized in 1906.

Also, if you see a badge with a wider bottom, that is called a "Fetting" badge because the manufacturer, Fetting, made them incorrectly. If you see a badge with 2 lines across the crown, that badge is generally from the 20's or 30's. My little sis is bidding on one right now on Ebay...

Probably more than you wanted to know! ;)

Trivia.....

Any takers on my trivia question.......

radioZTA 06-21-2007 01:21 PM

I have 4 histories and I can't find ANY of them but I'm going to guess 1902

ZTABullwinkle 06-21-2007 04:10 PM

Found it! (page 72 of Vol. I, radioZTA)

"...The First National Convention was held at Farmville, VA, June 6 - 10, 1903, Alpha Chapter entertaining. The meetings were held in the Main Building og the State Normal School...."
