GW only has 3 - two of which are recognized by their Nationals and are trying to get recognized. The University has been actively trying to get them recognized.

As for how this was handled - it's going to blow up in GW's face. Taking kids out of class and seizing their laptops and cell phones is really over the top. Unless they had knowledge of an imminent huge crime that was happening right then, doing that is inappropriate and is going to really hurt the school's good reputation when it comes to dealing with Greek Life.

I'm waiting to see what the charges are.

I agree, L.O.C.K.; while the university will probably be okay in the long run, pulling students out of class without formal criminal charges is more than a bit excessive. I wish someone would try to pull me out of a class that I'm financially, and academically responsible for. That would make CNN Headline News.

I know that my chapter would never put me in that situation, but if anyone actually disrupts my class to take me away, the person is going to be a cop, eventually. My education is way more important than participation than any investigation. Unless someone tells me that my brother has just died and they have specifics, I'm not budging. It's not high school anymore.

If those students broke laws then they would have to face the consequences, but the officials could have at least waited until after the class was over. It's not like the students were really fleeing like escaped convicts...
