But the bolded is the sad part. When I first read "obstruction of justice", I thought the mother might have actually helped her son hide the body.
Maybe I'm just too honest, but I'd hope as a mother I'd be very emotional (to say the least) by the situaton but still cooperative with the authorities. Her child murdered someone else's child that he claimed to love, and he has to face the consequences. Also, the Norman family deserves to see the justce process getting started which might provide some solace.
Here's a quote from the Clarion Ledger that gave me (and probably others) a small bit of solace:
