There is an old thread that talks about old chapters which were absorbed into the NPC sorority Delta Zeta. The only sorority that I know of that was in the NPC and is no longer, is Iota Phi Theta (correction made later that day: I meant "Iota Alpha Pi"...sorry about my mistake), and I think it was absorbed into another NPC, though I cannot say for sure.

Alpha Delta Theta became part of Phi Mu in the mid-20th century.

Here's the thread you all might be looking for:
NPC's that didn't make it
There's a list of some former NPC sororities as well as who they merged with or when they went defunct

So I take it there was an Iota Phi Theta sorority before Iota Phi Theta fraternity was founded?

I think she's actually referring to Iota Alpha Pi, just misspoke.

Yes, Iota Alpha Pi is the one that I intended. My apologies for getting the name and letters mixed up.

Didn't Iota Alpha Pi decide to disband in the 70's? I can remember seeing their pin, and since it's so like the ADPi pin, wondered why they didn't think of asking for a merger.

There was an IAPi chapter at U of T (that's Toronto, people) and according to this page, it was disbanded as an IHQ.

I always thought that another GLO "ate it up"...maybe if someone has an ancient Baird's floating around, we can find out for certain.

Was Kappa Beta Gamma ever a member of NPC?

Honeychile, back in the "day" (the 70's), Iota Alpha Pi was considered a Jewish sorority. That is the most likely reason it did not consider a merger with ADPi or any other sorority. They had a few chapters in common with SDT, AEPhi, DPhiE and Phi Sigma Sigma, which were also considered historically Jewish sororities at that time. I don't know why they did not consider approaching any of us about merging. Is there an IAPi alum out there who can give us a clue?

I didn't think it was my place to say that. I can remember seeing one of their pins on ebay - it was diamond shaped with a "shadow" diamond in azure blue <<>. Seemed to be a lead pipe cinch - until I discovered the "why"!

Paula,
My only guess would be that the majority of their chapters were at a school that had at least one if not more of the above mentioned GLO's and instead of having a ton of new chapters it would have been a lot of the merging of the chapters which would have been harder?
