Now mind you, this is the same girl who got me all hyped on running this year and I still run..erry' now-n-den ..but she has stopped running since late summer.
She tells me about becoming a raw foodist..someone who doesn't cook their food. At frist thought, I was like.CV, here you go again...I'm aint eating raw meats and isht..that aint even gonna happen. So she sends me all sorts of websites and a video to watch and I read that raw foodists eat nothing but fruits and veggies and some nuts. There is no meat, no sugar, no processed food and no cooking. So I told her I would try it for two weeks to see if it could help me get over this fitness/health wall I had hit.
Well 3 weeks latter and about 8lbs lighter, about 70% to 80% of my diet has been nothing but raw foods and I actually feel great and look even better. It's not for everyone and you really have to read what's out there to be better informed.
Here is some information

Thanks for this info!! I went hard as a vegetarian for about a month, then jumped off the wagon. However, I think that I am about to jump back on, as I have been feeling like crap ever since going back to the meat. As I don't have tons of time to research right now (with me studying for finals and all that), can you post a few more links for me or give me a crash course on how you've followed this lifestyle? I think that it would be interesting to try, as I LOVE the idea of NOT cooking. Who has time for that?

Keep me posted!

RD, there really isn't a crash course, the two websites I posted are really where I've gotten most of my information from. The second website is all about and recipes for green smoothie, something I drink EVERRRRYYY MORNING, without fail. For me, I have my green smoothie (that I make in a blender, though I think I need a juicer) about 4 or 5 cups, depending on how much water and how many fruits I use. The green smoothie isn't for the faint of heart, so I'ma post what I put in it. Some folks will turn their nose up or make an ugly face, but it's the most filling food I've had in all my "dieting" years.
1 1/2 cup kale greens (I use my hands and grab a huge handful)
1 pear
1 apple
1 banana
1 celery stalk
1 cup water (or more if you'd like)
(make sure you cut up your fruits)
I put in water, then the bananas and kale. I start blending till it's liquid, then I add in the rest gradually, till it's all smooth. I add some protien powerder, since the fruit and Kale give you fiber and let the blender run till I'm sure all fruits are completely blended. I pour in a big water bottle with the plastic straw, and head out the door. I'm done by the I get to work, rinse our my cup and go about my day.
I bring fruits and some nuts with me to snack on during the day and always a salad for lunch. And because they are all high density foods, I'm NEVER hungery.
Remember, for me, it started out as a clense and a way to get over my wall, now, I can't do without my green smoothie in the mornings..
