From my POV, I saw Sheila's seclusion and not telling her girls that she was getting married was necessary to her regaining her essence and her strength. She knew they would be in her corner cheering her on, but it was time for HER to encourage her own self through her mess. What if she had come back before she was ready and Mike tried to holla at her? In her weakened state of mind, she would have taken him back and continued the cycle of mental and emotional abuse. So I totally support her isolation. Sometimes you have to do that to get your head together. And she did in a big way.
In terms of her dress and from what I have seen in Tyler's plays, the attire and wigs are not always the best fit/match for the characters' body shapes.

I hear you but I'm not talking about Michael, but rather her decision to get married. Surely she was settled in her own mind before she did that, right?
As tight as sistahs usually are, that just struck me as odd. All she needed was a quick phone call:
"hey, uh, I shot the sheriff,

and I'm 'bout to be his deputy.... so get up here."
