They actually had a hearing yesterday and they are just on Disiplinary Suspension...
they can reform at the start of next fall.
the only reason it is a big deal is b.c they were denied permission to sell the shirts in the first place, and decided to sell them anyway....
and also this came at a time where Tech is trying to improve its image to outsiders... Compared to A&M and UT people see us as rude, 'classless clowns.' and yes going to tech i agree we are rude for no reason.
that being said. i thought the shirts we hilarious.... would i buy one.... no...
but thats just me...
WRECK EM!

What's the deal with selling T-Shirts up there. I've been to several sorority functions at Tech and have bought t-shirts that were made by the houses on plenty of occasions.
Not seeing how this is any different.

^Because someone always has to have something to bitch/protest about. Look at recent events all over the nation...
Granted, I'm not saying the shirts are right/wrong but honestly, It's a joke. It's not like they're going to do what Vick did.

I'm a Texas Aggie and I'm offended. Not so much that it is 'just a t-shirt', but what the t-shirt represents - that Tech should do to the Aggies what Vick did to those dogs. To me that is what the t-shirt implies.
To make light of how the dogs were treated by Vick and his associates is just tasteless and tacky. If these fraternity men are all about honor, truth and whatnot, then they would have never thought to do the shirt.

Someone will always be offended, no matter what is done. The shirts could have daises and monkeys and someone will find a reason to be offended. Like I said, it's not like they're actually going to do what Vick did. Why are so many Americans sensitive to everything? People (in general) really need to grow thicker skin. Now, if the Theta Chis or whomever printed the tees do partake in dog fighting, then I can see a reason for reprimand. If it was THAT big of the deal, the company that printed the shirts would not have done so.
I am an animal lover but I personally don't see what the big deal is. No animals were harmed in the making of the t-shirts.

Maybe it's a metaphor? Or, y'know, not literal?

Tasteless and tacky does not mean dishonorable or deceitful. This is a total strawman.
"Making light" of something is pretty much the American way - should I become moribund every time I'm around a dog? Maybe I'll take a moment of silence for their pitbull brethren . . .

No sweat. Some people have empathy, some people don't. :shrugs:

Do as you wish. Another great American way. I just expressed my feelings on the topic.

I agree that you can express your feelings, but I'm not sure it's appropriate to question the honor or trustworthiness of a group based on an inappropriate t-shirt design.
It seems like you're allowing other feelings to creep into this discussion.

OK - I'll try another angle.
How does an inappropriate t-shirt relate at all to founding ideals of truth and honor? This was silly and ill-advised, but I cannot see any way in which it is dishonorable. Why do you feel the way you do?

Be honest. You're just upset because A&M students have a freakish obsession with a dog that is mildly disturbing.
Maybe I should try to put a stop to A&M's "Saw 'Em Off" stickers with our mascot's horns cut in half. As a Texas student and lover of all things bovine it shocks and appalls me.

Your school tried that already, and failed. But hey, maybe you can get that movement started again.
