HS friends

I , too, know what you mean. It's hard for the moms, because, their friends became like family. I miss them and really want them to get together, but they have moved on and so must I. I'm like Peter Pan ( I don't want to grow up).
Love, ZTA72

Okay, perhaps I'm just still young and don't really get it or perhaps it's because I went to school with the same people from 1st grade through high school graduation, but why is it so wrong for someone in college to keep in touch with some of the friends they graduated high school with? I have plenty of friends in college and in my chapter, but I still keep in VERY close contact with 2 of my best friends I had in HS and in pretty close contact with another. Granted, there are many friends I had back then who I really don't talk to anymore. I guess I'm just not understanding why it's a bad thing to have a support system of friends at college and still have friends from your past as well.

i don't think that anyone said that it is wrong to stay in touch with high school friends. i have been graduated from hs for mucho years and still keep in touch with one dear friend weekly and a few others when the mood strikes.

i would venture to guess that "mom" is afraid that daughter is relying too heavily on her hs friends for social interaction and could get stuck in the high school mindset, not expanding her circle of friends and growing herself. i have seen classmates go off to the same college and not expand their circle of friends-they stay bunched up in the same group they ran around with in hs, doing the same things they did in hs. no personal growth there at all.
