Your thoughts about APO chapters and A-Phi-Que chapters

Why wait for "one day" to visit other chapters...

Regionals are coming up, make a point to attend one of them. If possible, attend your Regionals. If not, attend another.

Attend Sectionals. If possible, consider attending other sectionals. (I am considering attending Section 98's this Spring, in additional to my own).

And keep in mind Nationals coming up next year in Boston.

This is the best way to met other chapters and establish friendships.

If nearby chapters are having events, see if they are open to other chapters visits (many are).

Its strange that my chapter has little contact with their 'big brother' chapter which is 30 minutes away, but has good contacts with a chapter farther away in our section. My chapter tries to get as many people as possible to attend sectionals. they don't care were it is, they'll be there. Sadly, many chapters don't do that, either sending a small number or worse, basically not showing up.

Love them or hate them, but the A-Phi-Ques have singlehandedly made the cookout an event to the degree that it is the next best thing to attending the National Convention.

Yeah so how come I haven't seen you there in forever?

If I'm out of my lane, sorry...but I would hope that people would know the difference between the Cookout and a Convention. We get NO BUSINESS done at the Cookout

Because after making 3-4 road trips (most of them I was driving by myself) to and from Atlanta and Tuscaloosa, AL for 25/52 functions within a 9 month period (back in '97-98), I resolved I wasn't going to make anymore long road trips by myself. 9-12 hour drives going solo simply isn't the business. Now that I think about it, I don't know why I haven't thought of flying down to ATL.

Well, the fact I was referring to the brotherhood and frat/soror camaradie being the common denominator between the Convention and the Cookout notwithstanding...

...in regards to the above quotes, actually, that's not 100% true--depending on what year you are talking about. There has actually been some business going on during or immediately before the Cookout.

Well that IS true frat. But from what it looks like, that won't be happening again anytime soon. I know the sorors haven't had a "meeting" since 2005.

Yes get on a plane for next summer! The Cookout has REALLY REALLY changed in the last few years! LOL so much bigger...so much badder...I feel old for real sometimes being there. But I still have a great time.
