Ok so I completely caved and started playing multiplayer last night. It’s a lot of fun and that’s really not too surprising.
Halo 3 vs. Gears of War…that really is an apples and oranges comparison but I’ll do my best.
Halo 3 – First Person Shooter…I’m biased I’ve always preferred FPSs.
GOW – Third Person Shooter…Gears of War is the only third person shooter I have ever gotten into.
Edge: Halo 3 (biased)
Halo 3 – Isn’t revolutionary
GOW – Brand new IP with a new emphasis on how to play a shooter (cover option/tactics)
Edge: Gears of War
Halo 3 – Endless variations of Multiplayer Games
GOW – Only four multiplayer game types.
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 – Much Better Achievements IMO
GOW – Specific Weapon Achievements always made your teammates act like douche bags…“Yes I know you need your sniper achievement but you suck at sniping!”
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 – 4 player campaign co-op
GOW – 2 player campaign co-op
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 – Instant Re-Spawn
GOW – Waiting forever while two craptastic snipers attempt to take each other out
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 – Instant Matchmaking, Player Party’s
GOW – Waiting forever for a room to fill up
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 - Not very bloody
GOW - Extreme Content!
Edge: Gears of War
Halo 3 – No Clan Support
GOW – No Clan Support
Edge: Draw
Halo 3 - Campaign…If you’re expecting an amazing storyline/cinematics I’ve got some bad news for you.
GOW - Campaign…Amazing storyline and cinematics.
Edge: Gears of War
Halo 3 - Minimal Trash Talking.
GOW - All the downtime between rounds fosters trash talking.
Edge: Halo 3
Halo 3 edges out Gears of War with a score of 7 to 3.
That being said I’d say for my gaming tastes Halo 3 is the clear winner. Now for all you Gears fans please don’t freak out. Believe me, I have loged some serious playing time (10,000+ ranked kills) on Gears and enjoyed it very much but it’s time for me to move on to greener pastures.

I understand that they're not really replacing those old boxes -- they're just putting heatsinks on the old GPUs (graphics processors). The cause of the "red ring of death" is that the GPU on the orignal units tends to overheat. That of course isn't the end of the 360's problems though. There have been significant problems with drives which scratch disks as well. Also, I don't like loud fans on computers. I'm a little OCD in that regard I guess.

It's really dependent on the problem....
They lose enough money on selling new systems so yeah...in a sense they are 'band aiding' the problem by adding a heat sink...but..if that's all it takes ....fine...it's not just the GPUs but the CPUs also...those boys run HOTHOTHOT...hehehe
This is what I think I am hating about these next gen systems is that they are too much like PCs now...
KEVLAR...how far in are you?

That's why the only nextgen console I own is a Wii. It is great when entertaining guests.

biggest entertainment launch in history
I'm sure you've already heard, but Halo 3 had "the biggest entertainment launch in history," making more on its first day that the last "Harry Potter" book and the box-office opening of "Spider-Man 3."
And copies are still selling.
It's crazy to see the stats & realize that during the weekend, nearly 500,000 people are playing Halo 3 at the same time!

I tried doing the legendary campaign solo…it didn’t work out to well. I only got past the 1st chapter on legendary before I started playing online multiplayer.
So I guess to answer how far along I am….
Campaign: Chapter 1 Complete on Legendary
Multiplayer: Skill Level – 28, Rank - Lieutenant, Grade 1
