Aren't we blessed to have had Pavarotti in our lifetime? May he be blessed.
Whenever I get a client with pancreatic cancer, I have to make sure I don't get too emotionally involved - six months is a LONG time for it. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
As for prostate cancer, my godson's father started a new job which required a physical. They didn't test him for prostate cancer, and he questioned it (he was 42 at the time). By the time he was 51, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and they told him he had had it at least 10 years! He passed away two years ago - and my godson was only nine.

Pavarotti was initiated as an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia by the Beta Tau chapter in 1978.
As with AlphaFrog, he was never my favorite, but he did have a beautiful voice and he, like Beverly Sills, made opera more accessible to many who otherwise might not have been exposed to it.
May he rest in peace.
Oh, may I join the choir invisible

In minds made better by their presence....

The thing that always stuck me personally about Pavarotti was that while protecting and projecting the dignity of the music and the art form, he always seemed approachable and the absolute opposite of the "high brow snob" artist that many people think that opera people are.
A great entertainer and gifted human being is silenced.
