I think the biggest strike against you is that you've had your license less than a year, so they kind of see you like a 16 year old.

My insurance is only affordable because I'm female, married, have a clean record, have been driving for 8 years, and have a multi-car discount.

Could you possibly check with your mom's insurance (if she drives) to see if you could get on with her for a multi-car discount?

I've gotten tons of tips on how to save money from our Nationwide agent, who we're now using. I got us a package deal, and we save a ton of money because all of our cars/motorcycles are on the same plan, we're all married, and we all have clean driving records. Well, except the ticket my mom got last month. That's probably going to jump her insurance up.

Ok, now that I've just rambled on like a Progressive commecial, I'll stop.
So you realize that your advice, in green, doesn't hold true everywhere? In certain states age matters over experience, in other states experience is the most important. When I was a licensed insurance agent and had to occasionally do quotes in NY, age mattered more than experience. In CA the opposite is true.
