Snakes in the Pulpit
Has anyone heard about Snakes in the Pulpit? It is a book coming out this month that my cousin told my mother and me about this weekend.
From the website:
The number of megachurches featured on National TV and radio have spawned a new type of celebrity: megapastors. These men have risen in stature and gained the public's trust as irreproachable men of God as their churches have attracted hundreds of thousands of members and millions of viewers and listeners.
But are these men, their methods and intentions really beyond reproach? One man says no, and he's set to be the voice of doubt crying out into the wilderness of what he believes to be blind faith.
"I want to expose the deception and the lies that are going on right now when it comes to these megachurches and their pastors," Armstrong said. "I'm a Christian, and I don't want people thinking I'm against God or anything like that. I believe in the church, but I don't believe in people saying one thing and doing another."
What do you think?

I hadn't heard of the book before now.
Why are people so quick to try and find deception in the lives of ministers? Yes, a minister has to live life at a different level because of his position in the body of Christ. I agree with that. Ministers should strive to walk the straight and narrow. But the only one who hasn't ever succumb to temptation was Jesus himself, but He was tempted. The devil tried. As long as people put their trust and faith in the people who lead the church instead of who they are being led to, they will be disappointed at some point. The role of the minster is to lead us to have a closer relationship and understanding for ourselves. If a minister is not leading the church in a manner you can agree with, leave the church and pray for him. If his life is a lie, leave the church and pray for him. Humans have a sinful nature. None of us is perfect. I've always understood that. I guess I was under the impression that most others were as well.

I agree Conskeeted.
I have mixed views about this person writing a book about megachurches and megapastors. I think on one hand it's not our place to expose "the mess." Then on the other hand, I see how and why people are so upset with how this new movement has become a business versus a ministry and feel the need to speak out against it. My personal opinion: God will do the exposing in due time. We need to continue to go the church that we feel we're being ministered to and pray for the state of our nation.

Did anyone else catch Fox5 last night in Atlanta? Juanita had an exclusive interview with them and discussed the attack, her feelings, and plans in the future. She admitted that there was "pushing and shoving" in the past in their relationship. She also said she's filed for divorce already.

Juanita Bynum Better Quit Playing With Me
From http://www.sandrarose.com/news.htm
Televangelist Juanita Bynum has a special request for emergency seeds for a new 'threshing floor'. This is a place where she says she goes to pray for you - or at least those of you who sow your seeds of $1000 or more. In this video Juanita says she has been asked to leave her old threshing floor. Probably for the same reason her husband the Bishop was evicted from his threshing floor - not paying his mortgage on time.
Now Juanita says God has given her the land to build a new threshing floor - the new spot boasts 30 acres with 12 lakes where she will go and "touch God for you". All she needs is $200,000 in "emergency seeds right now" to start building. Silly me, I thought you could pray anywhere at anytime for anyone. But I guess not. You see I learned something new from Juanita today.
