For instance, Kappa Delta, often regarded as a "deep south sorority" has Nu chapter at Oklahoma State and Pi chapter at the University of Nebraska.
Iowa State has quite a few established chapters as well. Mu (now Iowa Gamma) of Pi Beta Phi was founded in 1877, Delta (now Omega Delta) chapter of Delta Delta Delta in 1889, Sigma Sigma chapter of Kappa Delta in 1908, Pi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi in 1911, Rho chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta in 1917 and Omega chapter of Gamma Phi Beta in 1918.

Wow, many, many older chapters at ISU as well--another great school. (I just love the old Big Eight schools...) 1877 is pretty darn old, even for Pi Phi! The change in chapter designation really disguises the seniority of many of these venerable chapters at ISU.

I stand corrected--ADPi was founded before the 1920's. However, I think both ADPi and Phi Mu have had periods where they were gone for a few years and then came back, or got down to a very small size and hung in there unhoused. This means no legacies and no group of alums to look to for support for big blocks of years.

This is what happened to my husband's fraternity, TKE, which was Phi chapter. When we were in college, it was huge. They won intramurals every year, had somebody on homecoming court, SAA, Mortar Board, etc. and they lived in 2 houses on University Terrace (next door to both KD and DG--this was the ZTA house), an annex next to the AXiD house and in the Hotel California on T St. (Yikes!) But they had been on and off campus several times during their history and at that time had no alums of the prime money producing age to help out and within ten years they were gone again.

The good thing is that sororities can keep it going better, especially if they have support from nationals, and it looks like ADPi has decided to work with their situation rather than going away. Good for them!
