And actually, I try to go at "odd" times (early afternoon for R rated movies and late night for G-PG movies), and either there's really nobody there, or the people that are there are respectful. The only movie I ever brought my infant to was the Phantom of the Opera at the dollar theater, and it was at 8:00pm, so she slept the whole way through...and she was used to Opera-style music, so that didn't upset her. Now that she's older, I took her to see Bridge to Terabithia, and she talked a few times, but she was generally very good.

sadly enough ...they closed up a lot of the dollar theaters in this part of MD...
I won't lie...sometimes, when don't feel like being bothered, I find 'other means' to get my movies and if I really like them buy them on DVD once released...what is the most annoying about the movies is how much we are paying now for movies vs 10 years ago and more of these movies suck (see the thread: Movies you belive people should NOT watch lol) and they keep making sequels. The worst offenders of sucking money from people are Japanese horror flicks remade for the American public.
The Ring, Juon, and a few others were better when left alone but the moment someone tinkers around with it...the movie gets shot to hell and you come out wondering how can you get your money back.

Growing up there was a .99 cent theater in town and you stuck to the floor--and I didn't like that.

before this part of Indiana changed time zones, we would go to the drive-in. $5 for two movies, and the babies could sleep in the car while we watched the movies.
Now however, it is 10pm before it gets dark, so we haven't gone this year.
My biggest movie annoyance is people who shout at the screen. I don't mean scream at a scary point, but who actually shout out advice or a "you go girl" at the characters at the screen. Um, sorry, but THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU! And I can't hear the movie with all the shouting!

The last time I went to a theatre (in Chicago, btw), the family behind us must have brought a picnic basket or something! They had a whole PIZZA that they shared, drinks they slurped, and popcorn that they brought. How on earth they got this stuff into the theatre, I have no idea.

Anyone, kids or "adults" talking during the show. Too many people it seems seem to think that they are at home rather than out with others.
Cell phones and the owners who just can not turn them off.
Those who answer their cell phones during the show-see above.
