When I went to see Pan's Labyrinth for the first time the theater was relatively empty besides my group of friends and these 3 people a few rows back. They talked, giggled, and laughed throughout the entire movie-a few times I looked back there to see one of them them excitedly engaged in telling the other two a story, waving her hands around & whatnot.
Eventually we asked them to shut up but it only worked for a little while. I don't understand why 3 adults would pay to see a movie & just talk the whole way through it? Everyone else that I was with could understand the dialogue even though I had to read the captions but its still annoying to have someone chatting throughout the whole movie. I just used it as an excuse to see it 2 more times after that.

for all of the above reasons...I am almost done with going....top that off that most movie theaters dont calibrate thier equipment like they are supposed to...the last few movies I saw were so dayum dark and I asked the manager to please check to see if it should belike that and they claim that it's suppoed to be that dark and then when u get the home release it's not like that...may sound a lil crazy but Saw III and 300 were like that for me....maybe they are trying to keep pirates from getting quality copy bootlegs or sumn but...it's annoying.
Another thing I hate is people who take thier infants to see a rated R movie (especially when it's a horror movie) and the child cries the whole time..please for the rest of us spending 10+ dollars to see the movie....get a babysitter or just dont come
You know I hear the cable companies are negotiating with the movie industry to show new theater run movies in the home at a PPV cost......if it comes down to that...I say have a movie party to offset the cost.

The above reasons are why I wait for movies that I want to see on the big screen to go to the dollar (now $1.75) theatre...and ones I don't need to see on the big screen to come to DVD.
And actually, I try to go at "odd" times (early afternoon for R rated movies and late night for G-PG movies), and either there's really nobody there, or the people that are there are respectful. The only movie I ever brought my infant to was the Phantom of the Opera at the dollar theater, and it was at 8:00pm, so she slept the whole way through...and she was used to Opera-style music, so that didn't upset her. Now that she's older, I took her to see Bridge to Terabithia, and she talked a few times, but she was generally very good.

the prices piss me off the most. ive been twice in 6 years, and it amazes me that to go have an evening out that may or may not be rudely interrupted, i have to pay that much money.

Kids are what annoy me at theaters. I made a post a few years ago about a bad experience I had with kids at the movie theater. I don't understand why parents bring a toddler to a 10pm or later movie. The kid is tired and cranky so a temper tantrum will more than likely ensue. You're supposed to take your child out of theater as soon as he/she starts throwing a fit but a lot of parents don't. I've had some miserable movie experiences because there was a kid in the theater throwing a temper tantrum.
I usually way for the movie to come out on pay-per-view or DVD. I'd rather pay $3 to see the movie in the comfort of my own home than sit like sardines in a can at noisy theather that I had to pay $9.50 per ticket for.

Funny this topic started this week...Michelle, a writer over at Best Week Ever wrote a blog about a baby in the movie theater when she went to see Borne Ultimatum on Sunday night...it was awesome.

sadly enough ...they closed up a lot of the dollar theaters in this part of MD...
I won't lie...sometimes, when don't feel like being bothered, I find 'other means' to get my movies and if I really like them buy them on DVD once released...what is the most annoying about the movies is how much we are paying now for movies vs 10 years ago and more of these movies suck (see the thread: Movies you belive people should NOT watch lol) and they keep making sequels. The worst offenders of sucking money from people are Japanese horror flicks remade for the American public.
The Ring, Juon, and a few others were better when left alone but the moment someone tinkers around with it...the movie gets shot to hell and you come out wondering how can you get your money back.

Growing up there was a .99 cent theater in town and you stuck to the floor--and I didn't like that.

before this part of Indiana changed time zones, we would go to the drive-in. $5 for two movies, and the babies could sleep in the car while we watched the movies.
Now however, it is 10pm before it gets dark, so we haven't gone this year.
My biggest movie annoyance is people who shout at the screen. I don't mean scream at a scary point, but who actually shout out advice or a "you go girl" at the characters at the screen. Um, sorry, but THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU! And I can't hear the movie with all the shouting!

The last time I went to a theatre (in Chicago, btw), the family behind us must have brought a picnic basket or something! They had a whole PIZZA that they shared, drinks they slurped, and popcorn that they brought. How on earth they got this stuff into the theatre, I have no idea.
